Philippines keeps position as second-largest banana exporter in 2022

The Philippines has managed to keep its position as the second largest exporter of bananas in 2022, Philstar reported referring to the latest banana market review of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations. Last year, the country exported a total of 2.3 million metric tons, a decline of 4% year-on-year, due to lower shipments.

The Philippines’ banana exports have been on a downtrend after 2019, when it shipped over four million metric tons. Despite the decline, the country placed second to Ecuador, which remains as the world's top banana exporter with 5.8 million metric tons shipped last year, Philstar noted.
